Kenneth J. Cochran, DSc, RN, FACHE, Elected to  American College of Healthcare Executives Council of Regents

Kenneth J. Cochran, DSc, RN, FACHE, President & CEO, Opelousas General Health System, has been elected to the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives. The Council of Regents serves as the vital link between ACHE and members by approving governance and membership regulations as well as promoting ACHE programs, services and activities within their respective areas.

Dr. Cochran will take office March 20, 2021, prior to ACHE’s 64th Congress on Healthcare Leadership. As a Regent, he will represent ACHE’s membership throughout Louisiana.

He has served as President & CEO of Opelousas General Health System since July 1, 2015. Prior to this position, Dr. Cochran was President & CEO at River Valley Health Partners, a multi-institutional system in East Liverpool, Ohio, as well as, CEO of Cibola General Hospital in Grants, New Mexico.

Dr. Cochran has served in leadership positions within ACHE such as Program Committee Chair, CEO Committee, Credentials Committee, and President of the New Mexico ACHE Chapter. He currently serves on the Louisiana Hospital Association Board of Directors, LHA Research and Education Foundation, Vision St. Landry Board, and the OGHS Foundation Board. He is the immediate past Chair of the St. Landry Parish Chamber of Commerce.

Board certified in healthcare management and an ACHE Fellow, Dr. Cochran is a member of the American Hospital Association Clinical Leadership Committee and the Center for Health Organization Transformation.

Dr. Cochran received his Doctoral Degree of Science in Healthcare System Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, his Master’s in Business Administration from California State University, and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Troy State University.
