Opelousas General Health System (OGHS) and The Wound Treatment Center announce a first-In-state offering of advanced wound care technology with the introduction of APLICOR 3D. APLICOR 3D is a tissue regeneration system, distributed by Tides Medical, a Lafayette-based biotechnology company that specializes in wound care products. The product and clinical capability mark a significant step forward in advancing wound care treatments and patient outcomes across the region.
APLICOR 3D uses AI, 3D printing technology and a patient’s own adipose (fat) tissue to print a personalized tissue graft. This novel approach emphasizes using a patient’s own biology to support wound progression, after standard of care has stalled. By integrating this technology into The Wound Treatment Center, OGHS reinforces its commitment to delivering state-of-the-art, patient-centered care.
“Being the first in Louisiana to introduce APLICOR 3D into The Wound Treatment Center supports our ongoing mission to leverage advanced technology to improve outcomes and clinical efficiency,” said Lance Armentor, CEO of Opelousas General Health System. “Using a patient's own body fat to 3D print a graft is truly remarkable. This system enhances our capabilities as a regional wound care center, and to do so with a local partner makes it even more exciting.”

The technology gives wound care specialists a new tool in the toolbox for combatting chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers. For the nearly four million patients in the US with a chronic wound in need of advanced therapy, APLICOR 3D makes advanced bioengineering accessible within the wound care practice.
"This is one of the biggest advancements for treating wounds in decades," stated Dr. Kerry Thibodeaux, Medical Director of The Wound Treatment Center. "We are going to help so many patients across Louisiana with this breakthrough treatment."
“Partnering with OGHS and The Wound Treatment Center makes so much sense,” said Joe Spell, CEO of Tides Medical. “Not only are they world renowned experts in wound care, but it is also encouraging to feel our shared commitment to elevating the standard across the board. I can’t wait to see how the first patients respond to this advanced treatment.”
