Comprehensive Care Through Advanced Technology
Innovative treatments, state-of-the-art technology and teamwork are the standards for care patients can expect. Central monitoring allows staff to closely track all patient activity from one location. Physicians are able to access the same information by computer, enabling them to monitor patients even when they are away from the unit.
As a patient's condition improves, our Progressive Care unit is the next level in our comprehensive continuum of care. Progressive care patients need additional monitoring and care than patients on the general medical unit, but their conditions don't require the level of care and monitoring of intensive care patients. Typical patients are those who have undergone heart-related procedures in our cath lab or need close monitoring due to other medical procedures.
Opelousas General Health Systems' 16-bed intensive care unit (ICU) provides care for critically ill or injured patients needing close monitoring or intense treatment due to surgery, an accident or a medical condition.
