The Emergency Center (ER) at Opelousas General Health System is designed,equipped and staffed to respond quickly to the most serious health care emergencies. Our ER facilities are conveniently located at both our Main and South locations. Whether your emergency is big or small, you can trust the care of your loved ones to us.
The Emergency Center - Main Campus
The Emergency Center on the Main Campus is located on the first floor, open 24 hours a day and staffed with specialty trained physicians at all times.
Our Main Campus ER features twenty-two treatment rooms with cardiac monitoring that allow patients to be seen quickly in a private setting. Inside our ER, you'll also find an ultrasound and full X-ray room for fast, convenient care. Our emergency room physicians, nurses, techs and support staff are trained to quickly identify, evaluate and care for patients with any level of acute illness and injury. Our team has the emergency trauma and critical care experience to monitor patients closely and act quickly in the event of a life-threatening event.
Main Campus- Fast Track
For non-life threatening emergencies, The Emergency Center at Opelousas General Health System Main Campus also offers a Fast Track department where you'll experience less wait time. Here, patients are seen for less emergent ailments, such as:

- • Sinus Infection
- • Rash
- • Sore Throat
- • Headache
- • Earache
- • Sprain
- • UTI
- • Minor cut or burn
- • Insect bite
- • Cold or Flu
- • Allergies
Patients report to The Emergency Center at the Main Campus, where they are triaged. Once the visit is determined to be non-life threatening, the patient is routed to the Fast Tract department for treatment.
The Emergency Center- South Campus
The Emergency Center at Opelousas General Health System South Campus is conveniently located on the first floor with full-time physician access. This 14-bed department is designed to accommodate patients who have problems that do not require the intensive services of the Main Campus ER. You may visit the South Campus ER for sore throats, fever, minor musculoskeletal injuries or non-critical cuts that may need stitches.
