Senior Services/Life’s Champions
Life’s Champions was formed in 1985 to serve the needs of older citizens. At the time it was a new dimension in providing health information, resources and social activities for seniors. Today members of Life’s Champions, are presented with the latest health topics in the bi-monthly member newsletter and at the bi-monthly meetings, the OGHS web site, Community Support Programs along with free and discounted health screenings.
Life’s Champions enjoy the specially planned social gathering, group travel, and volunteer opportunities offered to members. Upon registration members receive a bi-monthly newsletter outlining all of the benefits of membership. Opelousas General Health System offers to members discounts throughout the hospital. The program is offered free to local and area residents who have attained the age of 55 years.

A 20% discount on weekdays in the hospital Lil’ General Café.
A 50% discount Sunday at noon in the Lil’ General Café.

Community Support Programs-The healthcare team at OGHS provides a number of family support group programs. A sample of topics include, Better Breathers, By Stander CPR and Healing Hearts
Community Health Fairs-Throughout the year, OGHS conducts and participates in community-wide health fairs, providing free and valuable health care services.
