Paint the Town Pink Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Please join us on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 10:00 am as we officially cut the pink ribbon to kick off our “Paint The Town Pink” month of activities. The ribbon cutting will take place in our “Healing Garden” located at the main campus of Opelousas General Health System. Come by and check out the decorated bras and pick up some valuable breast cancer educational materials. We are asking our community to help us “Paint The Town Pink” and join us in supporting Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing a "Paint The Town Pink" t-shirt or something pink every Friday in October.
Other “Paint the Town Pink” events:
- “Be My Support” Bra Decorating Contest deadline: Tuesday, September 20. First place prize is $100 chamber cash, 2nd place is $50 chamber cash and 3rd place is $25 chamber cash. Winners will be announced at the “Pink Bag Luncheon & Style Show” on Friday, October 21st. To enter, download the online registration form.
- Pink Bag Luncheon & Style Show: Friday, October 21st. from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Evangeline Downs’ Event Center. Guest speaker will be Ginger Breaux, breast cancer survivor. Tickets are $7.00 and can be purchased at the OGHS Business Office. Tickets cannot be “held” and must be paid for in advance. For Information about tickets, call Cindy Stelly at 948-3011 ext. 5278.
- Business Decorating Contest: Judging is Friday, October 7th. Details are available on-line.
“Paint the Town Pink” t-shirts will be available in the gift shop at Opelousas General Health System's Main and South Campus. They are $5 each. $6 for 2X or 3X.

Breast Cancer Statistics
In 2010, breast cancer ranked as the number one site of new cancers seen at Opelousas General Health System. Sixty new breast cancer cases were seen which accounted for 17.7% of the total new cancer cases for 2010
