Welcomes First Baby of 2012!



Opelousas, LA, 01/04/12. The Obstetrical Staff of Opelousas General Health System has been on standby for two whole days to welcome the first baby of the New Year. Their wait ended Tuesday, January 3rd, when they welcomed baby girl Jordyn Elizabeth Calais. Jordyn was born at 6:18 p.m., weighing 7lbs, 6 oz. and measuring 19.5 inches, to the proud parents, Destinee Calais and Shawn Taylor. The OB/GYN staff presented the couple with a large gift basket filled with items that they will need for their new baby. They were competing for first with another birth which took place only 15 minutes after their baby girl was born. Destinee and Shawn will bring baby Calais home to Church Point, La. She is the couple's first child.
