Opelousas General Health System has been recognized as a Louisiana Jump$tart Coalition Workplace Financial Literacy Honor Roll Honoree.
Opelousas, LA, April 8, 2011, The Louisiana Jump$tart Coalition’s Workplace Financial Literacy Committee has recognized Opelousas General Health System for their commitment to workplace financial literacy. Opelousas General Health System’s financial education program has been in place for 3 years with over 150 employees having completed the course.
The Louisiana Jump$tart Coalition’s Workplace Financial Literacy Committee has developed a program to recognize companies that provide financial literacy as an added benefit to their employees. This recognition program is relevant and achievable for the workplace regardless of company size, industry, business model, resources and employee demographics.
Louisiana Jump$tart has modeled their program after the Workplace Committee- Honor Roll Program, established by the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy. While the President’s program is national, Jump$tart’s program is designed to recognize businesses in Louisiana that have achieved workplace financial literacy goals.
The Workplace Financial Literacy Honor Roll Program accepted applications for business or non-profit organizations (including state and local government entities) that developed and implemented programs designed to increase financial literacy and financial well-being of their employees. Best Practices of Honor Roll Applicants were evaluated on program Longevity, Participation Rate, Eligibility, Topics and Activity.

All Honorees were announced by Ken Uffman, State Coordinator on April 1, 2011 and received a certificate of recognition as well as their company named published in all Honor Roll materials such as press releases and the Jump$tart website. Jump$tart will take applications for the 2012 Workplace Financial Literacy Honor Roll beginning October 1, 2011 through February 1, 2012.
