OPELOUSAS GENERAL HEALTH SYSTEM OFFERS ASTHMA CAMP

June 15, 2011, Opelousas, La: Opelousas General Health System will offer a Asthma Camp to children ages 6-13 from July 19-21, 2011. This is the 27th year anniversary of the unique camp experience offered to children with asthma, whose health has made it difficult for them to attend a regular summer camp. Camp Azzie provides a program of asthma education, exercise, and nutritional information to children throughout Louisiana. Campers will learn anatomy of the lungs, how to breathe better, how to build self-esteem, how medicines work, CPR, etc. All events planned for Camp Azzie will be supervised by OGHS medical professionals and directed by Dr. J.Y. Bordelon, Pulmonologist and Dr. Brent Prather, Pediatric Asthma and Allergy Specialist.
There is a $30 (non-refundable) registration fee which includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, art supplies and a t-shirt. Camp will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end each day at 4:00 p.m.
The Camp will be held at OGHS South Campus, 3983 I-49 S. Service Rd., Opelousas, LA 70570 and at LA Family Fitness Center, 336 Heather Drive, Opelousas, LA 70570.
