OPELOUSAS GENERAL HEALTH SYSTEM IS NOW MANAGING
REHABILITATION SERVICES AT OGHS SOUTH CAMPUS
Opelousas, LA. April 7, 2011, Opelousas General Health System is now managing Inpatient Rehabilitation Services at Opelousas General Health System, South Campus.
“Rehabilitation services are vitally important not only to our community, but also for the future of our organization. We are pleased, as a health system, to be able to provide this service”, said Gary I. Keller, President and CEO of Opelousas General Health System.
Occupational and physical therapy is provided on an out patient basis at the Main Campus, located at 1270 Attakapas Drive, Suite 202. Our physical therapists provide a treatment program that consists of exercise, stair climbing, walk training, balance endurance and patient family education. Occupational therapy focuses on strengthening muscles, improving range of motion and coordination, increasing work tolerance and physical activity endurance.
Our inpatient rehabilitation service located at South Campus, 3983 I-49 S. Service Road, provides highly specialized care for a variety of debilitating illnesses including congenital deformities, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic injuries, joint replacement, hip fracture, amputations, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson’s Disease and stroke. Treatment modalities include speech and language therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Social services provides the patient and their family with adaptive and adjustment facilitation. Specialized nursing care is also available to the patients. Individualized home care plans are developed post discharge to ensure that each patient continues to achieve their maximum level of independence.
Moreau Physical Therapy will provide occupational and physical therapy services for both outpatient and inpatient units on behalf of Opelousas General Health System. Moreau Physical Therapy President, Al C. Moreau, III has many years of experience in occupational and physical therapy services and currently provides services at five locations in South Louisiana.
