Opelousas General Health System Honors Volunteers

Opelousas, LA, Opelousas General Health System recently honored adult volunteers, Senior Companions and Ministers of Holy Communion at the Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. These individuals represent 99 volunteers who provided at total of 19,390 hours of service to the hospital in 2009. Gerald Fornoff, President & CEO addressed the group to extend his gratitude for their dedication and commitment to Opelousas General. “Volunteers are so valuable, you give willingly to help our patients and to support our staff, you are, to me, just phenomenal” said Fornoff.

Also addressing the volunteers was Wayne Gilmore, OGHS Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Mr. John Braham, coach and religious advisor at Opelousas Catholic. Each shared stories of how volunteerism enhanced their personal life as well as their careers. “Volunteerism is one of the building blocks to success”, said Gilmore. With grateful appreciation, the OGHS department managers served lunch to the volunteers.

Delores Kidder, Director of Volunteers also shared her thanks and appreciation. “During these many hours, they have brought comfort to our patients and assistance to our staff, OGHS is truly grateful for your devotion”, said Kidder.
