Nutrition

Our Cancer Team recognizes the importance of a healthy diet to recovery from cancer. A Registered Dietician or staff Nutritionist provides our cancer patients with information, recommendations and management of daily nutrition.

Family, friends, hospital staff, physicians and community agencies may make referrals for nutritional services, including:
  • Nutritional assessments
  • Recommendations to improve nutritional status
  • Nutrient analysis based on a 24-hour dietary recall
  • Dietary instructions for therapeutic diets
  • Nutritional counseling regarding weight gain, weight loss, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, food allergies and other related complaints

The Nutri-cise meal, offered in the hospital cafeteria, is low in sugar, fat, cholesterol and sodium. The meal is designed to help prevent cancer, obesity, hypertension, heart disease and diabetes mellitus.
