Opelousas General Health System to Host Community Health Fair

In celebration of National Hospital Week, Opelousas General Health System will host the 3rd Annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at OGHS’ South Campus located at 3983 I-49 S. Service Road in Opelousas. It will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
Area businesses throughout St. Landry and beyond will be joining OGHS, OGH Imaging, The Heart & Vascular Institute and the OGHS Foundation in offering free screenings, tests and other medical information to the community. Featured screenings include: cholesterol, glucose, peak flow, blood pressure, glaucoma, colorectal, balance, hearing, depression, body composition, sleep disorders and more. Lifeshare Blood Center will be taking blood donations and a local pharmacist will be on hand to provide prescription drug information. Both the Louisiana State Fire Marshall and the Opelousas Fire Department will have educational demonstrations on fire safety. Child ID Kits will be on hand as well as a kid’s station. You will also be able to find out if you qualify for a free mammogram. While on site, receive a massage and get information on stress management as well as nutrition information.
