Intensive Care Unit & Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Up-To-Date Technology, Skilled Care and an Interdisciplinary Approach
Our 16-bed ICU provides patients constant supervision by a team of specially trained emergency nurses. Through the use of advanced techniques and specialized equipment, each patient's condition is continuously monitored.
The Opelousas General Health System Intensive Care Unit is a multipurpose unit designed and equipped for the intensive treatment of critically ill patients with a variety of diagnoses. The primary goal of the ICU staff is the delivery of quality care to the critically ill patient. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists and unit secretaries. Central monitoring of all bedside activity and physiologic parameters assists the staff in the constant observation of a patient's condition. This information can be accessed directly by physicians from home or the office by use of computer modem software. Up-to-date technology, skilled care providers, and an interdisciplinary approach to promoting positive patient outcome provide for total care.
Progressive Care Unit
The Progressive Care Unit is a step-down unit located adjacent to the Intensive Care Unit. This unit provides specialized care to patients undergoing procedures performed in our cath lab and patients with special monitoring needs. | |
