Accredited by AASM
Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) in September 2001, the Sleep Disorders Center at Opelousas General Health System is a medical facility that provides comprehensive clinical evaluation, diagnostic testing and therapeutic interventions for a variety of sleep and/or sleep related breathing disorders (i.e., Sleep Apnea, Insomnia, Narcolepsy, Periodic Leg Movement Syndrome, etc.)

Studies show sleep deprivation has dangerous consequences, ranging from cognitive function to falling asleep at the wheel. Sleep deprivation has been associated with hormonal and metabolic changes that mimic the effects of aging, as well as increased risk of developing heart/lung disease and diabetes.

Our trained staff of Registered Polysomnography Technologists and Registered Nurses under the direction of a Board Certified Sleep Medicine Physician work to assure our patients adopt healthy sleep practices as personal priorities.
